Mathias De Smedt

From a young age, I grew up learning the ropes of hard work in my father’s construction company, the best “school of life” you could ask for.

After finishing my studies in sports, I traded the classroom for the army, where discipline became second nature. But I quickly discovered that what really fuels me is people.

That passion led me abroad as a sports coach for two years, before steering me toward entrepreneurship and Human Resources. When COVID hit and the world slowed down, I used the time to sharpen my HR skills and launched my career as a freelance recruiter.

Four years, countless coffees, and a few hundred interviews later, I co-founded THREE with two amazing partners.

Today, I bring together the structure of the army, the drive of sports, and the people-first mindset that makes HR so rewarding. And yes — after all that, I can confirm: recruiting people is (slightly) easier than convincing them to do burpees.
