Chief Accountant

In this role, you lead the accounting department and are fully responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial data. You combine operational oversight with strategic insight and act as a sparring partner for the Finance Manager.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and support the accounting team (AP, GL, payroll)

• Take full responsibility for the accounting function

• Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual closings

• Prepare and validate financial reporting

• Ensure compliance with local accounting standards and tax regulations

• Prepare and coordinate external audits

• Monitor VAT, corporate tax and other fiscal obligations

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes

• Implement and improve internal controls and accounting processes

• Optimise ERP systems and reporting tools

• Act as key contact for external partners (auditors, consultants, advisors)

You play a key role in ensuring financial reliability and support management with valuable insights.

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar

• Minimum 7 years of experience in accounting, including leadership experience

• Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting standards and taxation

• Experience with closing processes and reporting

• Experience in a structured organisation is a plus

• Knowledge of ERP systems (preferably SAP or similar)

• Strong analytical and organisational skills

• Leadership and people management abilities

• Strong communication skills

• Good knowledge of Dutch and English, French is a plus
